Michael Norman was born to his mother, Nobue Saito, a woman of Japanese heritage. 

Like her son, Nobue was also a Japanese sprinter. During her time in Japan, she broke numerous junior high school sprint records and was a celebrity in her own right. 

It makes full sense that her son is a world champion and one of the fastest young athletes of all time. In fact, Micahel’s parents first met while competing for Los Angeles Valley College’s track team.

He returned to his mother’s country during the 2020 Olympics and was rumored to have studied a bit of Japanese while understanding his Asian heritage.
