The former baseball pitcher Orel Hershiser, who spent 18 seasons in the league between 1983 and 2000, is today.

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Orel Hershiser in 1979 after playing baseball in high school at Cherry Hill High School East and Bowling Green State University. In 1983, he made his main league debut with the Dodgers after several years in the minors.

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on September 22, 2021, that broadcasters Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser would not be in the SportsNet LA booth for a certain time.

Davis tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), and Hershiser had to go into isolation as well, owing to being in close contact. Currently, they are healthy and have returned to their work.

Meet His First Wife And Son

Orel Hershiser married his first wife, Jamie Byars, in 1981. While performing in San Antonio, he met Jamie.

He met her for the first time at a team party, and they were married just six weeks after meeting.

Hershiser’s baseball career suffered a setback, and he struggled to balance his personal life with his baseball career.

Jamie handled her husband’s troubles as if they were her own and kept everything running smoothly. However, they could not keep their love for one another after all those years.

In 2005, they divorced. Orel Leonard V and Jordan are the names of their two sons from Orel’s first marriage.

Orel Hershiser Career As Former Baseball Pitcher

In 1988, Orel Hershiser had his most successful season, throwing 59 straight innings without surrendering a run, a major-league record.

He was voted the National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the World Series MVP after helping the Dodgers win the 1988 World Series.

He earned the NL Cy Young Award and the NL Gold Glove Award that season. He went on to throw in two more World Series and was named MVP of the American League Championship Series.

Orel briefly worked as a coach and club executive with the Texas Rangers after retiring as a player before going on to work as a color analyst for ESPN and later the Dodgers.
