He began his career by joining the Men’s Ice Hockey Roster before becoming the assistant captain of the Kenai River Brown Bears.

In March of 2021, at the conference tournament, the league administration named Aquinas sophomore forward Alex Klekotka the 2021 WHAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Year.

Senior forward Kyle Truax was named to the All-WHAC First Team alongside Klekotka, while junior defender Mason Stewart and head coach Jordan Permoda were also honored.

In 2020, he was named the WHAC Newcomer of the Year, and in 2021, he was one of the conference’s top scorers with 10 assists. Alex scored five goals and 15 points in just 12 games, giving him one of the top point per game rates in the league (1.25).
