While Rebecca’s mother has both Dutch and English ancestry, her father is from Barneveld in the Netherlands. While participating in a student exchange program in the Netherlands when she was a teenager, Elizabeth first met Jaap.
Henry Bernard Kuizenga, Rebecca’s maternal grandpa, served as a Presbyterian Church preacher and a professor at a seminary.
