Ntare Mwire (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) is an American stage and film actor, playwright, photographer, documentarian, and activist. Ntare is a first-generation Ugandan American working in the mediums of photography, theatre, film, and television. His photographic work has exhibited at The United Nations, Rush Arts Gallery, the UCLA Fowler Museum, The Latino Art Museum, and was featured on HBO.

Mwine appeared in movies including Blood Diamond, where he made his film debut. His first television appearance was in New York Undercover in 1995. Recent appearances include a recurring role as the mysterious Usutu in Heroes. Mwine originally played the role of “Joseph” in the show’s unreleased pilot episode; this part was removed when NBC took on the show full-time due to the character’s plot of terrorist activity.

Mwine graduated from the New York University Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts in 1992 with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts. He also studied at the University of Virginia, the Moscow Arts Theater and the Royal National Theater in London. Mwine’s first professional job was the role of Paul in the 1992 U.S. National Tour of Six Degrees of Separation, for which he received an NAACP Image Award nomination for Best Actor.

Showtime renewed the series for a second season on January 30, 2018, which started on April 7, 2019. Showtime renewed the series for a third season on April 30, 2019. It was announced on May 20, 2019, that Jason Mitchell would not return to the show for season 3 due to “misconduct accusations” 2018, Mwine featured as Ronnie in the Showtime television series The Chi, which follows residents of the Chicago South Side.
