Nina Wadia Career
Wadia rose to notoriety on the BBC sketch show Goodness Gracious Me as Mrs “I can make it at home for nothing!” and one half of The Competitive Mothers.
She took over for Meera Syal, her Goodness Gracious Me co-star, in the character of Rupinder in the sitcom All About Me, starring Jasper Carrott and Natalia Kills.
Wadia was cast as Zainab Masood in the long-running BBC soap series EastEnders in 2007. Her last appearance in EastEnders as Zainab occurred on February 8, 2013. She also appeared in EastEnders in 1994 as Viv, a nurse who treated Michelle Fowler (Susan Tully) after she was hospitalized with a gunshot wound.
In the 2010 spin-off EastEnders: E20, she plays Zainab. Wadia has also appeared in a number of British comedies and dramas, including 2point4 Children, The Vicar of Dibley, Thin Ice Chambers, Holby City, Murder in Mind, Doctors, and New Tricks.
She was a regular on the ITV topical talk show Loose Women from 2005 to 2006. Wadia also starred in the E4 adolescent drama Skins, as Anwar Kharral’s mother, and in the BBC Three thriller West 10 LDN in March 2008.

In 2019, as a last-minute casting call, and in “More of a Cameo,” as Wadia put it, she played the minor role of “Zulla” in Guy Ritchie’s live-action adaptation of Aladdin (2019 film). She played Anna Masani in the ninth season of the popular BBC drama series Death in Paradise in 2020.
Also in 2020, she had a small part in the fifteen minute drama Isolation Stories alongside Sheridan Smith which was filmed via webcam due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. In 2021, Wadia was announced as a contestant for the nineteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing.
