Kathleen “Kate” Rubins, who was selected as an astronaut by NASA in 2009, became the first person to sequence DNA in space.
Prior to her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of California, she also has a doctorate in cancer biology from Stanford University Medical School’s biochemistry department.
In the midst of this, she enrolled in the Salk Institute for Biological Studies’ Infectious Diseases Laboratory to conduct her undergraduate study on HIV-1 integration.
As a fellow and principal investigator, she oversaw 14 researchers working on viral infections that broadly impact Central and West Africa as a fellow.

Kate and her husband, Michael Magani, have been married for over seven years, as the MIT Club of South Texas mentioned the couple during the launch of the International Space Station in 2016.
Although the details of their romance are unclear, it may be inferred that the couple prefers to keep their private affairs discreet. It is, therefore, uncertain whether or not the couple has given birth to a child.
At a publicly traded medical device business with annual revenues of over $200 million, Michael was in charge of overseeing new product development projects earlier in his career.
In this role, he had to oversee market research projects and identify unmet medical needs across various markets, IPO Hub stated.
Likewise, Michael finished his graduate studies at the MIT Sloan School of Management and the Harvard Medical School in a distinctive program known as the Biomedical Enterprise Program.
Further, the University of California, San Diego, awarded him a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.

NASA Astronaut And Her Husband Are In Their 40s
The age difference between Kate and her spouse, Michael, might be a year or two. Both the couple are thought to be in their mid-40s.
Similarly, Kate is currently 43 years old, as she was born on October 14, 1978, in Farmington, Connecticut, in the United States. Nevertheless, she will turn 44 in a month. On the other hand, her husband is thought to be in his 40s or 45s.
Kate, a California native raised in Napa, worked around the house to pay for her seventh-grade trip to Space Camp.

American Microbiologist Husband Works As MD In CLS Americas
Magnani, a seasoned business executive, joined Clinical Laserthermia Systems Americas, Inc. (CLS Americas), a division of CLS AB in Lund, Sweden, as managing director for the U.S. and North American markets, per IPO HUB.
His expertise includes more than 15 years in corporate management positions in the life sciences sector, where he recruited and effectively oversaw many teams working on product development, strategic planning, corporate development, and commercialization.
Before joining CLS Americas, Magnani oversaw the founding of StimAire and served as its CEO. The StimAire developed a ground-breaking technology to substitute the CPAP equipment presently underutilized in the sleep apnea market.
Prior to that, Magani served as the president and chief executive officer of Saranas. This company manufactures interventional cardiology devices and has a working vascular access sheath that tracks bleeding issues in real time at the access site.
