Max Rosenthal was the father of Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal and recurring actor on the series. 

He was also a Holocaust survivor as he escaped Berlin following the Kristallnacht massacre in November 1938. Further, his wife Helen was held in a French concentration camp before fleeing to Cuba and then to the United States.  

Max’s death was confirmed by his son Phil via social media on June 27, 2021.

Max Rosenthal was an actor who was best known for Everybody Loves Raymond (1996), Somebody Feed Phil (2018), and the 2nd Annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards (2020). 

He had a recurring role on Raymond as lodge buddy Max throughout its run from 1996 to 2005. He had also made appearances in Phil’s unscripted PBS series, I’ll Have What Phil’s Having, and the Netflix series, Somebody Feed Phil, which was recently renewed for a fifth season.

Some other works in Max’s acting career were Set Set Spike (2002) and Tall Time Tales (1992).

He was married to his late wife Helen for over 60 years until death separated the two in 2019. The couple had two sons – Philip and Richard.

The actor left the Earth at the age of 95 on June 26, 2021.
