Lisa Skeete Tatum is the wife of American sports and business executive who is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of the National Basketball Association under Adam Silver, Mark Tatum.
Lisa graduated from Cornell University with a degree in chemical engineering and in 1989, she worked at Procter & Gamble in engineering and product development, and then in product supply, as the company started buying cosmetics businesses.
Lisa also worked with Cardinal Partners—an early-stage venture capital firm managing more than $350 million—where she focused on health care technology investments.
She was general partner, serving on many private, public, and nonprofit boards, while also raising their two sons.
Her husband Mark also holds the position of the NBA’s chief operating officer and for his work in these capacities, Forbes has ranked him at No. 8 on its list of “Most Influential Minorities in Sports”.
Prior to becoming Deputy Commissioner, Mark worked as the league’s Executive Vice President of Global Marketing Partnerships, where he managed the Business Development and Media groups.
In this role, he collaborated with sports marketing executives from The Coca-Cola Company, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Adidas, and Nike, among others, being in charge of NBA-themed promotions and advertising.
He also negotiated many of the NBA’s television deals with many networks (including ABC/ESPN and TNT).
Tatum was unanimously appointed Deputy Commissioner and chief operating officer by the NBA Board of Governors on February 1, 2014.
