Henry Louis Gehrig, or the famous Lou Gehrig, was the first Major League Baseball player in the United States to play for the New York Yankees. He made his debut in 1923 Major League Baseball, and played until 1939.
He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939. In 1941, he died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at the age of 37.
