Who was Kirk Arrington?

Kirk Arrington was a well-known American heavy metal drummer best recognized for his contributions to the band Metal Church. Born on January 23, 1962, in San Francisco, California, Arrington developed an early interest in drumming and dedicated himself to mastering the instrument.

He joined Metal Church in 1982 and played drums on the first four albums released by the band: Metal Church (1983), The Dark (1986), Blessing in Disguise (1988), and The Human Factor (1991). After a brief hiatus in 1995, he rejoined Metal Church from 1998 to 2006, taking part in the creation of their 2004 album, The Weight of the World.

Power, technicality, and variety marked Arrington’s drumming style. He excelled in a variety of heavy metal styles, including thrash metal and speed metal. Kirk Arrington’s remarkable drumming abilities gained him significant recognition and respect within the heavy metal world.

Unfortunately, all of the singers on Arrington’s albums (save 2004’s The Weight of the Earth) have died.

Mike Howe, who sang in Blessing In Disguise, The Human Factor, and Hanging in the Balance, died in 2021, and David Wayne, who appeared in Metal Church, The Dark, and Masterpeace, died in 2005.
