As of July 20, 2021, Everton has suspended a first-team player but it has not been confirmed if the player is Gylfi Sigurdsson.

In a statement made by Everton, they explained, “Everton can confirm that it has suspended a First-Team player pending a police investigation. The club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries.”

Multiple reports, however, suggest that it is in fact the Iceland midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Further, Greater Manchester police have confirmed that they have arrested the player earlier this month. The police have confirmed that the player arrested is a 31-year-old man. The revelation has shocked the entire Premier League ahead of it new season.

This description has further fuelled the rumors about Gylfi Sigurdsson as he matches the description.

Nonetheless, it is not fair to accuse Gylfi of anything as of yet as no concrete evidence has been presented to press charges on him.

The player’s agent also has denied making any comment on the case as of right now.
