Daniel Pearce Jackson Hodges, a British newspaper columnist is the only child and son of former politician and actress Glenda Jackson.
He was born on March 7, 1969 in Lewisham, London, United Kingdom to Glenda Jackson and her ex-husband stage director Roy Hodges.
Hodges attended Edge Hill College in Ormskirk, Lancashire, where he studied English Literature and Communications between 1987 and 1990.
He worked as a parliamentary researcher for his mother from 1992 to 1997, describing it as ‘straight-forward nepotism’, before working in public relations for the Road Haulage Association, GMB and the Freedom To Fly lobby group.
Hodges also served as Head of Communications at the London Development Agency and as Director of News for Transport for London in 2007.
Since March 2016, he has written a weekly column for The Mail on Sunday. Before this, he worked as a columnist for The Daily Telegraph and in 2013 was described by James Forsyth in The Spectator as David Cameron’s “new favourite columnist”.
Besides being a columnist, Hodges is also a war game designer. His first being Where There Is Discord: War in the South Atlantic which is about the Falklands War.
In November 2015, Hodges’ first book, One Minute To Ten, was published by Penguin Books. It is about the three party leaders Cameron, Miliband, and Clegg, and the effect the 2015 general election had on them.
Dan Hodges won the Political Commentator of the Year Award at The Comment Awards in 2017.
He reportedly lost the sight of his left eye trying to stop a fight in a bar in February 1992.
The 54-year-old Dan Hodges resides in Blackheath with his wife Michelle di Leo and children.
