Erin Kaplan | Biography

It would be an understatement to say that Erin Kaplan is an accomplished woman. Born in 1983, Erin has been progressively working her way into the publishing industry in the past decade. She currently works as the head of public relations for one of the most popular teen magazines around the world, Teen Vogue. Before joining Teen Vogue, she worked with ELLE Magazine as their public relations director for half a decade.

A New Yorker, Erin resides on the Upper East Side of the city but she has her roots in Istanbul, Turkey. She has three brothers with whom she was raised in Newport Beach, California. She made a move to New York as a college freshman and has remained there since. She graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a degree in Communications. After graduation, she was hired at ELLE Magazine. Although she starred in a reality series on MTV for several months, she has managed to keep her personal relationships under wraps. Unlike her counterparts on the series, her dating life was kept private.

Erin has been a pop culture aficionado since she was younger. Her radiant confidence and enthusiasm pertaining to her work has always been present in her career. She has always aspired to be a frontrunner in communications and publishing and with big names such as ELLE and Teen Vogue on her resume, she has been proving herself to be just that. She was the youngest person to be appointed for the post of public relations director at ELLE Magazine. She landed a marketing assistant post at the magazine right after graduation and gradually made her way to be the director of public relations. You may also recognize Erin from the reality series, The City, which she starred in from 2008 to 2010. The MTV series was a The Hills spin-off and lasted for two seasons. It was centered on the lives of women much like Erin who are based in New York City. The main cast included Erin’s on-screen nemesis Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port. In early 2011, after many speculations in the fashion media, she revealed that she was leaving ELLE Magazine for a post at Teen Vogue. It was later revealed that she would be taking up the post of director of public relations at Teen Vogue, succeeding former PR director Eleanor Banco. For the teen magazine, she handles their publicity and has a demanding work life. She oversees things like promoting the cover photo and broadcasting. She also works to negotiate partnerships with other companies and organize Teen Vogue events.

As the fans of The City might know, Erin is devoted to what she does. Nothing comes close to her passion for her work. Working for fashion magazines has definitely influenced Erin’s personal sense of style and fashion knowledge. She complements her gorgeous looks with accessories which she says is her number one styling priority. What many of her fans don’t know is that her natural hair is curly.
