Donald Kenneth Sundquist was the 47th Governor of Tennessee, serving from 1995 to 2003.
Prior to becoming governor, he served in the United States House of Representatives from 1983 to 1995, representing Tennessee’s 7th congressional district. He was a Republican Party member.
Sundquist was appointed to lead a national panel on Medicaid reform in July 2005. Michael Leavitt, HHS Secretary, appointed the panel. In 2008, he was the state vice chair for John McCain’s presidential campaign.
Sundquist left office to serve as a lobbyist for the firm he co-founded, Sundquist Anthony, now known as the Sundquist Group.
