Don Imus was an American radio personality, television show host, recording artist, photographer, philanthropist and author.

John Donald Imus Jr., also known simply as Imus, was born on July 23, 1940, in Riverside, California, the United States to parents, John Donald Imus, Sr. and Frances E. Imus Moore.

Don Imus’s parents ran a 35,000-acre ranch named The Willows near Kingman, Arizona. They divorced when he was 15 and Imus lost his father when he was 20.

Don Imus had a younger brother named Fred Imus. He dropped out of high school in 1957 and joined the United States Marine Corps at Base Camp Pendleton. He later transferred to the Drum and Bugle Corps.

Don Imus dropped out of the University of the Pacific, and later enrolled at the Don Martin School of Radio and Television Arts and Sciences, in Hollywood in 1966. He began his first radio job, at KUTY, in Palmdale, California in 1968.

Don Imus landed the morning broadcast position at WNBC, in New York City three years later. His radio show, Imus in the Morning was aired on various stations and digital platforms nationwide until 2018.

Don Imus was hospitalized at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station, Texas, on December 24, 2019. Unfortunately, he died three days later, on December 27, 2019, at the age of 79 following complications from lung disease.
