David Mayo is an American football linebacker for the Washington Football Team of the National Football League (NFL).

David Mayo was born on August 18, 1993, in St. Helens, Oregon, the United States to parents, Wayne Mayo and Lori Haggans. He attended Scappoose High School where he played football, track and basketball after his family relocated to Scappoose, Oregon.

David Mayo played football for junior college, Santa Monica College, in California before transferring to play football for Texas State University. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the fifth round (169th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

David Mayo was the 20th linebacker drafted in 2015. The Carolina Panthers signed Mayo to a four-year, $2.44 million contract that included a signing bonus of $166,252 on May 7, 2015.
