Summer played the character of Freddie Brooks, whereas Kadeem appeared in the role of Dwayne Wade. While Dwayne was romantically involved with actress Jasmine Guy’s character Whitley Gilbert in the show, his offscreen counterpart Kadeem fell for his other co-actor. 

A Different World ran for six seasons from 1987 to 1993, during which the actors and their characters went through some major changes in their lives. Kadeem’s relationship with Cree started while working together as co-actors and ended before the show’s finale.

The actor has occasionally talked about how awkward it was for him to be in love with Cree while pretending to be in love with Jasmine’s character Whitley Gilbert.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, Summer revealed that Kadeem was her first serious boyfriend. She described the actor as “kind, generous, thoughtful, and funny.”

The relationship, however, didn’t last long as the couple broke up before the show ended in 1993. In fact, Summer and Hardison had to work together even after their split.

Cree Summer got married to her husband Angelo Pullen in the early 2010s.

Actor Kadeem Hardison was married to his ex-wife Chante Moore from 1997 to 2000.

The former couple started dating in the mid-90s and welcomed a daughter called Sophia in 1996. A year after their daughter’s birth, Kadeem and Chante officially married. 

Unfortunately, the marriage only lasted for three short as the duo divorced in 2000. 

As of 2022, Kadeem is reportedly single. On the other hand, his ex-wife Chante is married to former BET executive Stephen Hill. The couple tied the wedding knot earlier in October 2022.
