William Bret Baier is the Fox News Channel’s Special Report with Bret Baier host and top political correspondent.
He formerly served as the network’s Chief White House Correspondent and Pentagon correspondent.
Baier began his television career with WJWJ TV16 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, before moving on to WRAL-TV, then a CBS affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In 1998, he sent an audition tape to Fox News and was hired as the network’s Atlanta bureau chief.

Baier has been married to his wife Amy for 16 years. Daniel and Paul are the couple’s two kids.
Paul, their son, was born with cardiac issues and underwent open-heart surgery in 2008.
Amy describes herself as a “resilient hockey mom” who attends her son Daniel’s games on a regular basis. “I’m a hands-on sports mom,” Amy explained to Naples Illustrated.
“They play a lot of golf; Paul tries to play every day, and Daniel plays three times a week because he also plays travel hockey and basketball. Sports are nonstop around here.”
Amy, herself is a skilled tennis player.
